Bokolmayo (Boqolmayo in Somali, Bokolmayo English) is one of the 93 districts in Somali Region. The districts are located in Liben Zone and found in the middle of the capital of Liben Zone Filtu and Dolo Odo, the biggest town of zone Liban. Bokolmayo is the district that host the most populous refugees in Ethiopia nearly 200,000, these refugees are Somalis that fled from the civil war in Somalia in early 2009 [1] . there are five refugee camps in Liban zone , of which three of them are found in BOKOLMAYo[2]. These refugee camps include

  1. Bokolmayo refugee camp
  2. Malkadida refugee camp
  3. Kobe refugee camp

Bokolmayo is located around 90 km west to Dolo Odo and 120 km east to Filtu

The majority of the people living in Bokolmayo are Somalis (99.8%) and the other 0.02% comprise of other nationalities in Ethiopia, who came for professional work or business. There are nearly 90,000 people in Bokolmayo of which 40 % are pastrolists, 20% agropastrolist and 20 % farmers and 20 % urban dwellers according central statistical agency.[3]
