Bob Zak (born Robert J. Zak in Joliet, Illinois on February 22, 1961) is a rock and roll radio personality, writer and marketing executive, who is best known for hosting programs on numerous radio stations in the United States.[1][2][3] He his best known for his shows on stations including WWHN, WCCQ, WJOL, 96.7 I-Rock, WKKD, WVIV-FM, WCSJ, WCFL (FM), WCKG, Star Station, and Y107.9-The 70s Station. Zak spent 13 years as the evening host on WERV 95.9-The River[4][5], before moving on to WAWY. Nationally, Zak has also hosted radio programs on WMCE-FM in Erie, PA, WSRQ-FM in Sarasota, FL, WERF-LP in Orlando, FunLand Radio in Atlanta, and internet station RadioBuzz 101. In 1991 Bob was appointed General Manager of WCSF Radio at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.[6] He is credited with the launch of one of the first recognized all-Christmas music formats[7] titled "The Spirit of Christmas"[8], airing from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day.

In addition to entertaining as a radio personality, Bob Zak's voice has been heard on more than 3000 radio and television commercials, documentaries and promotional videos.[9]

Outside the broadcast media, Bob Zak has a wide variety of interests including music, golf, cooking, and collecting vintage radio and audio memorabilia. He is also a musician who has performed in numerous rock and roll bands as a singer, drummer, guitarist and keyboard player.

Education

Bob Zak graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1979, Joliet Junior College in 1981 with an Associate Arts Degree (A.A.) in Journalism, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Broadcast/Communications from the University of St. Francis in Joliet in 1983.

Awards

For his contributions to broadcasting and community service Bob Zak has been honoured with the Joliet Junior College Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award[10] as well as the University of St. Francis Outstanding Alumni Award.[11] Zak has also received a Joliet Hall of Fame Award.[12]
