Bob Nouri (born Mehraban Khajehnouri; November 20, 1958) is an Iranian-born American automotive entrepreneur[1], investor, and philanthropist. He is the co-founder of the Nouri/Shaver Automotive Group, a network of automobile dealerships operating in California and Oregon.
Early life and education
Nouri was born on November 20, 1958, in Tehran, Pahlavi Iran.[2] He attended Allameh Tabataba'i University in Tehran, before immigrating to the United States in 1978.[2] He continued his education at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.[2]
Career
Nouri operated automobile dealerships in Oklahoma for around 30 years.[2][3] He served on regional boards for Chrysler and Hyundai Motor Company.[2]
In 2015, Nouri founded B.N. Dealerships Management, Inc. and relocated his business operations to California.[4] He co-founded the Nouri/Shaver Automotive Group with Pete Shaver, with Armina Mgerian serving as CEO.[4][5]
In 2016, Nouri partnered with NBA player Russell Westbrook to open automotive dealerships in California.[3] The partnership began when Westbrook appeared in television commercials for Nouri's Oklahoma dealerships while playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder.[3] Their first dealership, Russell Westbrook Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram of Van Nuys, opened in 2016 and features a basketball court inside the showroom.[3] By 2019, the partnership had expanded to five dealerships across Southern California.[3]
In February 2023, the Nouri/Shaver Automotive Group acquired Worthington Ford in Long Beach, California, marking the group's 17th dealership acquisition.[4][6] As of 2023, the group owned 17 dealerships across Southern California communities including Van Nuys, Chino Hills, Huntington Beach, and Anaheim.[4] The group generated over $2 billion in revenue in 2022.[4]
In 2021, Nouri co-owned Russell Westbrook Alfa Romeo in California, which was the nation's top-selling Alfa Romeo dealership.[7]
Nouri appeared as a participant on PokerGO's Poker After Dark during the 2018 "The Prestige" cash-game series alongside Antonio Esfandiari, Bill Perkins, Bob Sura, and other business leaders.[8][9]
Philanthropy
Nouri serves as a board trustee for the Farhang Foundation, an organization focused on promoting Iranian art and culture.[2] He is a sponsor of the Russell Westbrook Why Not Foundation, which provides education, workforce development, and mental health resources to underserved communities.[2]
Awards and recognition
In November 2021, Nouri was honored as "Citizen of the Year" by the City of Van Nuys Police Department.[2] In May 2025, Nouri received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor by the Ellis Island Honors Society.[10]
