Halil Pasha (1555 – 23 December 1603), also known as Boşnak Halil Pasha (Halil Pasha the Bosniak), was an Ottoman statesman, who served in various capacities in the reigns of Murad III and Mehmed III.

Biography

He was appointed Beylerbey of the Ottoman Bosnia and Herzegovina pashalik in 1588, where he held that position for two years. While he was governor of Bosnia, there were no major events. After rising to armament, he left the palace in 1591 as the Lord of the Janissary. In March 1592 he was appointed as Konya Sancakbey and in 1593 Anatolian Beylerbey.

He was married to Fatma Sultan in December 1593, and had two sons with her.[1]

In 1598, he was promoted to the rank of minister and promoted to vice-president. The following year, after the army returned to the capital, the captain was released from the sea and appointed second minister. He witnessed Sultan Mehmed's death and the ascension of his 13-year-old son Sultan Ahmed. He died on December 23, 1603[2], two days after the death of the Sultan. His body was buried in the courtyard of the Atik Ali Pasha Mosque.
