Blu Smart Mobility[1][2] or BluSmart, is India’s first all-electric ride-hailing service. Headquartered in Gurugram, the company began its operations in 2019. Currently, they have electric cars like Mahindra e-Verito, Tata e-Tigor, Hyundai Kona EV in their fleet. On the occasion of World EV Day 2021, BluSmart announced their partnership with Jio-bp[3] to set up charging infrastructure all across India.[4][5]

History

Blu Smart was co-founded on 14 January 2019[6] by Anmol Singh Jaggi, Puneet Singh Jaggi and Punit K Goyal. In the same month, BluSmart partnered with Mahindra & Mahindra[7] to launch the first batch of EVs on the platform. In September 2019, the company raised an angel round of $3 million led by JITO Angel Network, Investment Office of Deepika Padukone.[8][9], among other leading angels and stage VCs.

The company also recently announced completing 16 million emission-free kilometres[10] in Delhi NCR. [11][12]

Business Model

BluSmart functions on an asset-light model.[13] All the cars are procured by the company on a monthly lease from companies like EESL.[14]

Services

BluSmart operates in Gurugram & South Delhi and a user can book a cab using the Android (operating system) or iOS Mobile App.[15] In June 2020, this all-electric cab company also introduced its multi-hour Rentals. [16]

In April 2021, BluSmart initiated a vaccination drive for its driver-partners[17] with their vaccination status visible on the BluSmart mobile app.[18]
