Blake Vaz (born Gerardo Manuel López Vázquez, January 19, 1979) is an American filmmaker, director and producer of Mexican origin. He is the founder of Valagardo Productions and a co-producer of the music television program Té Para Tres, which received a Suncoast Emmy Award in 2015. His short films include Blood Stains (2018), L.U.N.A. (2021) and Il Colore della Notte (2024).[1]
Early life
Vaz was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.[1] As a teenager he was a musician in the band The Mulberry Purple before moving to Los Angeles, where he began working in media and production.[2]
Career
Vaz founded Valagardo Productions, through which he produced narrative and commercial projects. His short film Blood Stains (2018) screened at the HBO New York Latino Film Festival in New York City, as reported by El Diario de Juárez and El Diario de Chihuahua.[1][2]
His short film L.U.N.A. (2021) screened at film festivals including Shorts México, Panic Fest, and the El Paso Film Festival, and was later covered by Diario.mx in 2022.[3]
His short film Il Colore della Notte (2024) was reviewed by the horror publication HorrorBuzz.[4]
Vaz and his work have also been profiled in La Opinión[5] and covered in festival reporting by The Desert Sun.[6]
