Blake Bowman (born December 12, 2001) is a British professional basketball players for the Leicester Riders in the British Basketball League [1]. He previously played for the Derby Trailblazers in the National Basketball League (NBL) [1].

Career

Derby Trailblazers

Born in Derby, Bowman came up through the ranks of Derby Trailblazers' youth system, starting at Under-10s [1]. At 16, he made the leap to play for the Under -18s in the EABL, and was named the 2019-20 EABL Northern Conference MVP. Bowman went on to play for the first team in the NBL Division 1 in 2019 [2]. In his second season with the first team, Bowman averged 14.3 points per game [2].

Bowman committed to the University of Missouri Kansas City for the 2021/22 season, but returned to Derby mid-season [1]. Upon his return, he won the L Lynch Trophy Final, beating Team Newcatsle Univeristy 86-71 putting up 13 points and 10 rebounds [3].

Leicester Riders

Bowman signed his first professional contract with the Leicester Riders for the 2022/23 season [4]. In his first year with the club, he helped them to the British Basketball League Cup and British Basketball League Playoff finals, and a second placed league finish.

Personal life

Bowman's father, Barry Bowman, played in the British Basketball League for the Derby Storm, Thames Valley Tigers and London Towers[5]. His uncle, Marc Hawley played 56 games in two seasons for the Leicester Riders between 1997 and 1999 [6].
