Bianca Gabriela Rosu[1] (born June 17, 1998), known professionally as Biyu (stylized as BIYU), is a Romanian singer and songwriter. She is best known for her debut single, "Dragoste si durere" and for her performance on the third season of the X Factor Romania in 2013.[2]

Early life and career

Born in into a family of bankers in Bucharest, Romania, Biyu spent her first nineteen years performing in a number of singing competitions and local television shows. Her introduction to music came at the age of 4, when she began taking piano lessons and singing as a soloist in the Allegretto Children's Choir in Bucharest. At 11, Biyu began playing guitar. She attended the George Coșbuc National Bilingual College in Bucharest and was an active member of the debate club, graduating in 2017. In her teens, she began uploading her cover songs to YouTube.

In 2013, Biyu auditioned for the third season of the X Factor Romania talent show. Her performances were highly appreciated by both the jury and the viewers, subsequently reaching the Bootcamp stage.

She later released the song "Dragoste si durere" (translation:  "Love and pain") as Bianca Red, featuring DiezZ.[1]

In June 2015, Biyu performed at the Headquarters of the United Nations and at Alice Tully Hall as a soloist, along with the Allegretto Children's Choir in New York City.[3]

In 2017, Biyu moved to London. She graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management with International Business in 2020.

In 2021, Biyu graduated from King's College London with a Master of Science degree in Digital Economy.
