BitMart is a global cryptocurrency exchange that acts as a trading platform.[1] It lets people from all over the world trade and invest in crypto assets.[2] BitMart offers staking, lending, savings products, derivative contracts, futures trading, margin trading, and spot trading options.[3] The platform has more than 9 million users worldwide and has been ranked as one of the best places for cryptocurrency training by CoinGecko.[4]

History

BitMart was founded in 2017 by Sheldon Xia, headquartered in the Cayman Islands, and has offices in the United States, China, and South Korea.[5] In March 2018, the exchange went public and was formally registered as a Money Services Business in the United States.[6][7]

BitMart launched BMX, an ERC-20-compliant investment token, in 2018.[8][9]

In 2019, BitMart established BitMart Labs and started investing in investment and educational projects.[10] With pre-A funding from Fenbushi Capital, the platform secured collaborations with industry giants such as CertiK, Yanda, Shrimpy, Genesis Block, and Paxful.[11][12]

In 2020, by forming strategic alliances with SlowMist and Hacken, BitMart enhanced trading and network security.[13] With the assistance of Canaan Blockchain and CasperLabs, it improved its services to include staking and cloud-based computing mining power.[14]

In 2021, BitMart listed 585 new tokens and launched BitMart Earn with four variable savings packages and fixed savings products. By the end of the year, the exchange had nine million users with complete integration into major sidechain networks such as Avalanche, Polygon, Solana, and NEAR Protocol. BitMart secured Series B investment of $300 million from Alexander Capital Ventures.[15]

In 2022, BitMart created an NFT marketplace, offered margin trading services to boost futures and spot trading, and formed strategic alliances with several industry leaders in the Defi, GameFi, and Metaverse sectors.[16] In addition, the company attended several conferences, including Bitcoin 2022 in Miami and Consenses 2022 in Austin.[17]

Platform

BitMart's trading services are available in more than 180 countries. BitMart is prohibited in several nations, including Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Eritrea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Congo, Sudan, and South Sudan, as well as in several U.S. states, including Connecticut, New Mexico, Georgia, Washington, New York, and Hawaii.[18]

The network has implemented a multi-layer and multi-cluster system architecture that increases operational security, stability, and scalability.[19] The platform offers over a thousand crypto assets and over 700 trading pairs, including major coins such as BTC, ETH, AVAX, BNB, DOGE, LTC, SAND, SHIB, and SOL.[20] The platform's cost structure is tiered and is dependent on trading volume and holding balance. The greater your position or volume, the lower your cost.[21]
