Billy Swann (born William Swann in Arlington, Virginia, Feb 29, 1952) is a bassist and songwriter who was a member of The Muffins.
Biography
Swann's family lived in Washington, DC, in the 1950s, where Billy spent his adolescence in the suburbs. After attending high school in Mclean, VA, Swann begin working and playing music in the DC area, eventually befriending multi-instrumentalist Dave Newhouse and Michael Zentner who eventually formed The Muffins in 1973. For over eight years, Swann performed with The Muffins who released multiple albums and disbanded in 1981. He moved to Orangeburg, SC in 1991 where he raised his family. During his time in South Carolina he performed with the country band The Abilenes from 1991-1996, Siberian Mine Blast from 1996-2000, and Fender Benders from 1996 to present.
