Billy Singh Rai was an Australian Banana grower who holds the current record of 127.8kg for the Heaviest Bunch of Cavendish Bananas grown in Australia. In 2000, he beat the previous Australian record of 120kg. Billy's record bunch of Bananas was 1.6m in height and had a circumference of 2.2m. In the same year, he also broke the World Record record for the Heaviest Cavendish Plant Bunch category with a 72.5kg banana bunch, beating the previous record of 60kg. Each record still remains today and both banana bunches were grown from the same farm at Sugarcane Creek Road, Mission Beach. He won multiple awards including the Tully, Innisfail, Brisbane and Murwillumbah banana festival shows.
