Bhasmang Mehta is an industrialist turned wildlife photographer and the founder of Wildlife Sojourns. After 11 years of working as an industrialist, he decided to pursue his passion for wildlife photography. Mehta's work has been recognized and published by numerous magazines like Lonely Planet, Bombay Natural History Society, etc. He has a comprehensive social media fan base.

Early Life

Bhasmang Mehta was born on 6th August 1976 in a family of doctors in Ahmedabad. He completed his schooling and college in Ahmedabad. He graduated in 1997 securing a degree of Bachelors in Chemistry from Gujarat University.

Careers

After graduation, he joined his family’s pharmaceutical manufacturing business from the bottom as a Quality Control Analyst. With hard work and perseverance, he got the opportunity to oversee various departments. After 11 years in the company in 2011, he decided to leave and pursue his passion for Wildlife Photography. His first click took place in 2001 at the Gir National Park in Gujarat where he captured an astonishing photo of a sub-adult female lion in his camera. After that, he explored several sanctuaries in India to capture photographs of rare species of animals and birds. His portfolio of photographs includes White-bellied Heron, Asiatic Lions, Crested Hawk Eagle, Sarus Crane, etc.

Bhasmang and his wife Zankhana founded Wildlife Sojourns, a wildlife experience company in 2017. Wildlife Sojourns carries out workshops for the imminent wildlife photographers and have conducted over 25 workshops in 11 national parks across India in the past three years. Mehta's studio also performs several seminars aiming to provide the precise study of wildlife photography to rookie photographers.

They have been working for Asiatic Lion conservation and House Sparrow Conservation for almost a decade in the pursuit of notifying people on the conservation of wildlife.

Awards

Mehta has been awarded twice with the prestigious 'Lalit Kala Academy Award for Wildlife Photography'.
