Bettina Lange is a Professor of Law and Regulation at the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford.[1] Her research focuses on EU, UK and German environmental regulation[2] using socio-legal methods.[3]
Research
The governance of water resources is a focus of Lange's research.[4] She engaged with policy frameworks by co-authoring ‘Guidelines for Integrated Drought Management’, published on the Government's Catchment Based Approach website.[5]
Lange developed a collaboration between the Faculty of Law at Oxford and Humboldt University of Berlin on the regulation of uncertain futures and the application of sociological approaches to law and regulation.[6]
Methodologically, Lange works with qualitative empirical data that is analysed using a "grounded theory" approach or discourse analysis.[7]
Education
Lange holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Sociology from Warwick University, a Master of Arts from the University of Oxford and a Doctor of Philosophy in Law from the University of Warwick.[1]
Awards
- In 2023 Lange won the Teaching Excellence Award for Excellence in Supervision from the Social Sciences Division of the University of Oxford.[8]
