OccupationBishop of Urgell

Bernat Roger was bishop of Urgell in norther Spain between 1163 and 1167.[1][2]

According to documentation of the time it is speculated that his appointment was due to pressure from Count Ermengol VII of Urgell to overcome the serious differences between the count and the previous bishop, Bernat Sanç.[3] Despite the brevity of Rogers time in Urgell his connection with the county house of Foix, saw the population of the bishopric revolt, defying part of the chapter and the pope's calls to obey the new bishop above all differences.[4]
