Benjamin Dean Taylor, also known as Ben Taylor, is an American Composer and trumpet player born in 1983.[1] Taylor is primarily known for writing wind band music, but his body of work also contains work for choir, orchestra, symphony, opera, jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles, and pieces with both live and electronic parts.[2]

Awards and commissions

Notable among Taylor's career are several awards and commissions. Taylor has received commissions from the Omaha Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Wind Symphony, New World Youth Symphony, and more.[2][1] He also was awarded the Kaplan Foundation Commission at Saint Mary’s University in 2022.[3]

Taylor has also been awarded grants from the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition in 2019, 2015, 2013, and 2011.[4]

Youth outreach

Taylor is the founder and director of a yearly summer music program called Music Creators Academy, aimed at both youth and adult composers.[3]
