Name
Boyko's online pseudonym, "Beluga", stems from his Discord-based persona. His profile picture utilizes the "polite cat" meme, a smiling, photoshopped cat known as Ollie.[1][2]

2017-2021: Explore Lucid Dreaming
Boyko Initially launched a channel named "Survival Mode" in January 2017, but it remained inactive until later. 2021-present: Beluga
Boyko's main channel, formerly "Survival Mode", established in early 2017, began posting in February 2021.[3] Early uploads included reaction and commentary content, such as a video reacting to a goose attack and commentary on Dream's cheating allegations. From June 12, 2021, his Discord-based comedic sketches gained massive traction, leading him to gain 4 million subscribers in three months.[5][6] Social Blade reported approximately 740,000 new subscribers in just that month and approximately 6 million subscribers by December 2021.[2] This led to CNET ranking Beluga fourth place in the most-viewed videos uploaded in 2021, due to a spike in the channel's subscriber count.[7][8] In early 2025, Beluga orchestrated trolling experiments within his online community, such as giving his Netflix password to 841,000 users,[9] and inviting 833,000 participants to collaboratively edit a document on Google Docs.[10]

Explore Lucid Dreaming was created on September 30, 2017. The channel focuses on lucid dreaming, offering guides and explanations on achieving conscious dreams through various methods. Although this was the first channel where Beluga actively uploaded content, he became less active on it after the main channel grew in popularity. The channel has approximately 1.08 million subscribers.
Braden Boyko was created on November 24, 2017, and is named after Beluga’s real name. The channel features comedic videos on various subjects, sometimes including live-action footage of Boyko. It has accumulated 179,000 subscribers.[11]
