Belinda Nwosu(also known as Dr. Belinda Nwosu) is a Nigerian academician and hospitality consultant.[1] Belinda serves as a faculty member at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, where she teaches organizational behavior, conflict management, emotional intelligence, leadership development and change management.[2] She is a fellow and trustee of the Institute of Hospitality, United Kingdom.[3] Belinda has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.[1][2] As a result of contribution to the tourism industry, she made the International Hospitality Institute (IHI) list of the Top 100 Most Powerful People in Africa, alongside Ngozi Ngoka, Joycee Awosika, and Daphne Spencer.[4][5]
In addition, Belinda is a member of the committee reviewing the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority Act of 2022 and the National Institute of Tourism Establishment Act, recently assented to as Tourism Laws by President Muhammadu Buhari.[6]
Education
Belinda was born to a Zambian mother and a Nigerian father in Lusaka, Zambia.[1] She graduated from The University of Lagos with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and statistics and a bachelor's degree in hospitality management from Manchester Metropolitan University. Furthermore, Belinda earned a master's degree in hospitality management and a doctorate in business administration from the University of West London and the University of Southampton, respectively.[7]
Career
In 2002, Belinda began her career in the hospitality industry as vocational education and training staff member at Wavecrest College of Hospitality in Lagos State. She was part of the pioneering academic team involved in the accreditation and operation of Wavecrest College, the first private Monotechnic in Nigeria to offer diploma in hospitality.[8] Over years, she progressed through the ranks, ultimately attaining the positions of senior lecturer and head of the academic unit. [9][2] In 2016, she transitioned to W Hospitality Group, where she served as a senior consultant responsible for human capital development, design, and assessment.[10] Currently, she has taken on a faculty role in the Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management department at Lagos Business School.[11][2][9]
Belinda, a Certified Hotel Industry Analyst at STR Global, serves in an advisory capacity with both the Association of African Women in Tourism and Hospitality and the Institute of Hospitality.
