Belal Halbouni (born 29 December 1999) is a Canadian professional association footballer who plays as a Defender (association football) centre back for SV Werder Bremen II.
Club career
Early career
Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Halbouni began playing soccer with London (Dairy Queen soccer) and later joined North London when he was eight years old.[1] He started as a forward and attacking midfielder, but switched to centre back when he played at FC London.[2] He played university soccer at the University of Western Ontario.
SV Werder Bremen II
Halbouni signed his first professional contract with SV Werder Bremen II in February 2020 and made his debut in the Regionalliga on 21 February 2020, a 1-0 win over Hannoverscher SC.[3] He signed a new contract on 28 June 2021[4] and started the 2021-22 season in the Regionalliga Nord.[5]
International career
In January 2021, Halbouni received his first Canada men's national soccer team call-up for a camp in Bradenton, Florida.[6]
