Bastawa is a small village of 1846 hectares in Shergarh Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Bastawa depends on Jodhpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Bastawa is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Bastawa's pin code is 342023[4], and village code is 01982200. The area of Bastawa is segregated as 25 hectares irrigated area, 1067 hectares unirrigated, the 106 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 648 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jodhpur to sell wood furniture and make their living.
