Basra is a small village of 1739 hectares in Fatehgarh Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Basra depends on JAISALMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, One tank, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Basra is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Basra's pin code is 345027[4], and village code is 02075200. The area of Basra is segregated as 228.13 hectares unirrigated, the 1454.46 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 56.14 hectare area not available for cultivation.
