Barry O'Donnell is an Irish judge and lawyer who was appointed as a judge of the high court in June 2023. He was formerly working as a barrister.[1]
Early life
O'Donnell was born in Dublin in 1971. He attended Holy Park primary school, and finished his secondary education in Blackrock College.[citation needed] He obtained a law degree from University College Dublin and was educated further at the Honourable Society of King's Inns.[2]
Legal Career
O' Donnell was called to the Bar in 1995 and became a senior counsel in 2016. He served as part time chairman of the Mental Health Commission from 2006-11. As a barrister he operated in general practise[3], He frequently acted for the HSE, TUSLA, government departments[4] in Ireland and private clients.
Judicial career
O' Donnell was appointed to the High Court in June 2023.[5]
Personal life
O'Donnell is married with 13 children.
