Barbara Agonia (June 11 1934 - July 19 2022) was an American scholar and educator.[1][2]. Agonia received her Master's degree in English from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1969, and after receiving her degree in 1971, began her career as a higher educator at Clark County Community College, now known as College of Southern Nevada [3]. Agonia was heavily involved in women's issues, serving as Founder and Director of the Women’s Re-entry Program at Clark County Community College and board member of Community Action Against Rape[1][3]. Agonia also helped establish a Women's Center at Clark County Community College[1]. She was an active member of Friends of Nevada Wilderness, National Parliamentarian for the League of United Latin American Citizens, Soroptimist International’s Greater Las Vegas Club, University United Methodist Church, and the National Atomic Testing Museum[1][4]
