Baran is a small village of 1048 hectares in Girwa Tehsil in Udaipur district, also called 'the city of lakes' set amidst the Aravalli Ranges in the state of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Baran depends on Udaipur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 2.00% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Baran is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Well. Baran's pin code is 313801[4], and village code is 03159500. The area of Baran is segregated as 30 hectares irrigated area, 119 hectares unirrigated, the 413 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 417 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Udaipur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
