Bailey Marie Griggs is a singer-songwriter and actress from North Carolina, USA. She gained national attention in July of 2024 when the private school she attended, Cramerton Christian Academy, expelled her in her Senior year via email for performing in venues that served alcoholic beverages.[1] The email informed her parents that Bailey Marie " . . . attending night clubs or bars and gatherings with alcohol or drugs present indicates the school is no longer a good fit . . ." for her.[2]
According to an article in the Charlotte Observer, Bailey Marie began attending school as a 7th grader at a time when ". . . she had already been pursuing a career as a singer and an actress for a couple of years [...] the school was aware from the start that Bailey was a singer who gave live performances. The Griggses also say they had indeed been furnished with a copy of Cramerton Christian’s student handbook, and had signed it. But they say Bailey has since been performing for years, openly, at venues where alcohol was served. The school, they say, never had warned Bailey or her parents before notifying them of her expulsion."[3]
Within several days of the expulsion, Bailey Marie was added to the list of entertainers including Eric Church and Lynard Skynyrd to perform at the Field & Stream Music Fest in Winnsboro, South Carolina.[4]
Awards & Recognition
Bailey Marie was recognized as the "Best Country Female" artist at the 18th annual Queen City Awards in November of 2024.[5]
