Babeheaven is a London-based band known for their distinctive blend of dream pop, electronic, and indie rock elements. The band was formed in 2014 and has since garnered attention for their ethereal soundscapes, emotive songwriting, and captivating live performances.

History

Formation

Babeheaven was founded by Nancy Andersen and Jamie Travis, who met in West London. They soon began collaborating on music, combining Andersen's hauntingly beautiful vocals and Travis's multi-instrumental talents. The duo's shared love for a diverse range of musical styles, from pop to electronic to folk, influenced the band's genre-defying sound.

Early releases

The band's debut single, "Heaven," was released in 2015 and quickly gained attention for its melancholic and atmospheric qualities. This early success led to a record deal with 70Hz Recordings, a London-based label. Subsequently, Babeheaven released their self-titled EP in 2016, which included tracks like "Friday Sky" and "Ode to Dom."

Debut album

Babeheaven released their highly anticipated debut album, "Home for Now," in November 2020. The album was met with critical acclaim and showcased their ability to craft intricate and emotionally resonant music[1][2][3]. Standout tracks from the album include "Cassette Beat," "Human Nature," and "Jalisco."

Sink Into Me

The band released their second album, "Sink Into Me", on 18th March 2022, again recieving critical acclaim[4]. The album was preceded by four singles - "The Hours", "Don't Wake Me", "Heartbeat", and "Make Me Wanna" featuring rapper Navy Blue.

Musical style

Babeheaven's music is characterized by its dreamy and introspective sound, often blending elements of dream pop, electronic, and indie rock. Nancy Andersen's hauntingly evocative vocals serve as a centerpiece, accompanied by lush, atmospheric arrangements. Their songs often explore themes of love, nostalgia, and self-discovery.

Andersen has also spoken publicly about the perception of Babeheaven's music being skewed by her ethnicity and the difficulty of being a POC in the indie music scene.[5]
