BPC AG is a Swiss financial technology company founded in 1996. The company develops software for electronic payments and banking services. As of 2025, BPC reports serving more than 500 clients in over 140 countries, including banks, payment processors, fintech companies, and small and medium-sized enterprises. The company is privately held and maintains its headquarters in Switzerland,[1] with additional offices in 20 locations worldwide.[2][3][4][5]

History

BPC began in the mid-1990s as a software provider to financial institutions. By the early 2010s it was supplying its SmartVista payments platform to commercial banks in multiple markets, for example in 2011, BPC partnered with Banca Transilvania in Romania to enable Western Union money‑transfers through the bank's ATM network.[6][7] For company activities in Middle East and Africa region, In 2020, The Asian Banker named BPC the provider of "Best Payment Technology in Africa and the Middle East".[8] In 2022, Robinsons Bank (Philippines) selected SmartVista as part of a wider digital transformation programme, replacing legacy systems and supporting new card products.[9] And later In 2024, Forrester Research included BPC in its report on merchant payment providers in the Asia-Pacific region.[10] As of latest 2025, BPC is seen to partner with Visa and introduce "Visa Flex Credential" in Vietnam, allowing cardholders to switch between debit, credit, and BNPL functions.[11] The same year company announced of its expanded presence and new hires in Nigeria.[12]

Products and services

BPC's main platform is the SmartVista suite, which provides integrated banking and payment technology solutions. The platform includes modules for card issuing and merchant acquiring, point-of-sale (POS) switching, e-commerce gateways, mobile and internet banking, e-wallets, agent banking, buy-now-pay-later lending, SoftPOS acceptance, fraud management, fleet and fuel payments, and real-time payments. Independent analyst Celent evaluates digital-banking platforms across technology and functionality and, in 2025, published regional editions in which BPC's SmartVista was positioned in the top "Luminary" tier.[13][14][15][16]

BPC also provides O-CITY, a fare-collection and transit-payments platform used by transport authorities to accept open-loop (bank card and wallet) payments.[17] In the United Arab Emirates, the Ajman Transport Authority adopted O-CITY to introduce contactless, open-loop payments across its bus network in 2024–2025.[18][19]
