Ayub Shahobiddinov[1][2][3] was born on May 26, 1977 in Tashkent. He graduated from the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture in 1999. After graduation from the institute, he worked for the national television and radio company as a TV director.

While working for the television, he applied for The Higher Course for Screenwriters and Film Directors in Moscow and attended the workshops of S. Solovyov and V. Rubinchik for two years. After successful completion of the course, Shahobiddinov came back to Uzbekistan and started his career at the top filmstudio of Uzbekistan, Uzbekfilm.[4]

His debut film Tulip in the snow (2003)[5] was awarded Grand Prix at “Ijodiy parvoz” international festival held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan and this film was presented in a non-competition screening at the Cannes Film Festival (2004). Moreover, his first film made with 35-mm-filmstock “Ko’rgilik” (The truth, 2005) also participated in “Ijodiy parvoz” international festival and then presented as special screening at youth festival “Start” in Baku, Azerbaijan.

From 2007, Shahobiddinov participated in many international festivals held in different locations around the globe. The film "Yurt" (2007) was awarded[6] the best actor prize at the Kinoshok Festival (Russia), the Grand Prix at the Cinemarina International Film Festival in Kemri (Turkey) and the Grand Prix at the National Film Festival (Tashkent). Moreover, "Yurt" got he Prize of international jury at IFF Didor International Film Festival|“Didor”[7] in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and received diploma of International Festival of Muslim Cinema Golden Minbar for the development of the cinematography of the Turkic world. The film "Parizod”[8] (imdbtitle:3175326|Heaven – my dwelling place, 2012) became the participant and winner of many international film festivals, including the prize for Best Director[9] at the second NY Eurasian Film Festival,[10] prize for the best actress[11] at IFF "Volokolamsk frontier" named after S.Bondarchuk (Russia), Grand Prix of the Kinoshok film festival for the CIS, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. “Parizod” was presented as a special screening at Shanghai International Film festival. The psychological drama "Rangsiz tushlar"[12][13] (Colorless dreams[14][15] 2020) was awarded[16] the best screenplay at “Cinamaking International Film Festival”[17] at Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Ayub Shahobiddinov made commercial dramas such as Sevinch (2004),[18] Telba[19] (Insane) (2008), Turist (Tourist) (2013) and TV sitcom Artist (2016).
