He was winner of the 2004 MBC network televised competition "Star Search". The competition was between vocalists throughout the Arab world and was shot on location in Beirut, Lebanon.[2]

Abou Ammar graduated from the High Institute of Music in Damascus, Syria in 2010. He then went on to teach in the institute and in many others in his hometown.[2]

In 2022, he became the first Arab person to win the Canadian Actors Guild Outstanding Onscreen Performance Award for his lead role as Tareq Hadhad in the theatrically-released feature film Peace by Chocolate. He acted alongside the revered Arab actor and director Hatem Ali and the well-known actress Yara Sabri in the film.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]

Abou Ammar began his theatrical acting career with the “Hakaya” band at the age of 11.[2]

He acted as a singer in the series “Roof of the World” in 2007 with director Najdat Ismail Anzour and sang as Farid al-Atrash and Abdel Wahab in the series “Asmahan” in 2008. Abou Ammar then acted alongside Bassel Khaiat in the series “Abu Khalil al-Qabbani” in 2010 with director Enas Haqi.[3]

After the outbreak of war in Syria, he moved to Lebanon in 2012 and then to Dubai to work as an Arabic singing teacher at the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children between 2014 and 2018. During that period, he was the teacher of Al Jalila, the daughter of the ruler of Dubai - Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He also worked as a oud teacher and as a musician in the Dubai Opera Arabic Music Ensemble between 2016 and 2018.[2]

Upon immigrating to Québec, Abou Ammar established Centre Culturel Mazaj, a non-profit arts organization based in Montréal.
