Avenue Beat is a group of three singers, named Savana Santos, Sami Bearden and Sam Backoff.[1] All three singers are 21 years old, best friends, and from the small town of Quincy, IL. Sami, Savana, and Sam have different music backgrounds that they say bring musical variety to the group, with genre influences such as country, pop, and indie rock.[2]
Life and Career
Early Life
Savana and Sam knew each other from childhood, having been born and raised in Quincy, Illinois.[3] The duo met Sami at a musical theater camp. The trio got their name from an online band name generator in order to enter a hometown singing competition. The band started out by playing in-town shows and once opened up for the band, The Trailer Choir.
The group started taking trips to Nashville during their high school years.[4] They performed at the DawgHouse Saloon, with Charly Salvatore, their current manager, in the audience. Salvatore took interest in the group and has been managing the band ever since.[5]
Career Beginnings
Once they graduated high school, the band members moved to Nashville together to pursue a career in music.[6] In order to fund their music passion, they worked various side jobs, such as jobs at juice bars and in food delivery services.
They released their first single "Ruin That For Me" and first EP "Avenue Beat EP" with Big Machine Records Group's Valory Music Co in 2019.[7] After this release, two singles followed during early 2020. A quarantine related album of cover songs followed. Their newest song, "F*ck 2020" is set to release on July 10, 2020.
Social Media Influence
The trio has gained influence on the social media app, TikTok, with their video of their song "F*ck 2020" at more than 11 million views. This song depicts the hardships that the year 2020 has brought to the group.
