Austin Keen (born May 30, 1990)[1] is an American World Champion skimboarder,[2] professional wakesurfer,[3] and lifestyle influencer[4] Keen grew up on Tybee Island, Georgia,[5] learning to skimboard when he was 11[6] before moving to Laguna Beach, California in 2007 to chase his dream of skimboarding professionally. In 2013 he became a World Champion by winning the United Skim Tour Circuit.[7] He went on to win the 40th Annual VIC World Championship of Skimboarding.[8] In 2015, he branched into wakesurfing, quickly securing a sponsorship from wakesurf company, LiquidForce.[9] From there, Keen used his platform as an action-sports athlete to become a social media influencer, documenting his adventurous lifestyle on his Youtube and Instagram pages. He won the 2018 and 2019 GoPro Million Dollar Challenge,[10] securing the cover photo of the 2018 final video.

Early life

Keen lived on Tybee Island, Georgia, spending most of his childhood surfing. As he got older, he began skimboarding and started organizing local skimboard competitions to grow the sport in his hometown.[5] When he was 17, Keen packed up and moved across the country to Laguna Beach, California to chase his dream of becoming a full-time professional skimboarder. Before making it as a professional skimboarder, Keen worked many jobs including plumber's assistant, construction and waiting tables[11]
