Astha Dixit
Astha Dixit, also known as Astha Singhal, is an Indian-American computer engineer and graduate of University of California, Los Angeles turned classical Kathak dancer.[1][2][3][4] In 2021 she performed a TEDx talk|TEDx Talk entitled "Turning pain into power: Dance makes her life beautiful and gives strength to walk through life."[5] She has also appeared as an actress, using the name Astha Singhal, in several films performing her dance.[6] She trained with Sri Harish Gangani of the Jaipur Gharana & is noted for her work with Indian filmmaker Muzaffar Ali for his concerts throughout India on the music and dance on Sufi poets.[4]
Career
She studied Computer Engineering at University of California, Los Angeles earning a technical degree. She was cast in two movies for her dancing and acting abilities; Chandrahasan and Pellaina Kothalo then began dancing on an International level as a Classical Danseuse in the Art form of Kathak. She is also known for her adaptation devotional dancing style in her performances. She has mesmerized audiences in over 150 shows worldwide in her unique dancing style.[7]
Authorship
Dixit's book, "Door to Heaven," she wrote about the journey of her life and how dancing. Based on her life, it outlines her journey as a dancer.[8]
