Asma Abdul Sattar (commonly known as Achu) was a Maldivian tourism executive who served as the marketing manager of Lily Beach Resort. With 18 years of experience in the tourism sector at the time of the interview, she had worked at several resorts, including Baros, Gasfinolhu, and Meeru Island Resort, where she was in senior management from 1983 to 1994, overseeing its expansion from 148 to 428 beds. [1] In 1994, she became the Marketing Manager at Lily Beach Resort, managing its "All-Inclusive" concept. [1] Sattar expressed concerns in the interview about the challenges of training and retaining staff, as well as the difficulty some male staff had in accepting a woman in a leadership role. [1] She also highlighted her duties at Lily Beach Resort, which included correspondence, communication, marketing, and representing the resort at tourism fairs. [1] Sattar received an Award of Recognition from the Ministry of Tourism in 1997. [2]
