Fields

Dr. Ashutosh Sharma is the Director of Regional Department of Bio-engineering at the Tecnologico de Monterrey, also known as the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), in Mexico.[1][2][3][4][5].

He has performed multiple botanical research-works, and authored research papers with reputed journals on Medicinal Plant metabolomics, Medicinal Plant Genomics, Medicinal Plant Nanotechnology and Bioremediation.

Early Life

Ashutosh Sharma grew up in India. He completed his bachelor's and master's degree in biotechnology in India. After completing his early education, he worked with the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, India before moving to Mexico. He worked at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM, Cuernavaca before coming to Querétaro. He joined Monterrey Institute of Technology in 2012.[6].

He completed his PhD at the Morelos State University, Cuernavaca, Mexico on a bilateral project with Arkansas State University, USA[7].

Works or Publications

*Non-Invasive Method For Purifying And/or Isolating Nucleic Acids From Fecal/Epithelial Tissue In Cattle And Buffalo

He developed a noninvasive genomic DNA isolation protocol for genotyping of cattle and buffalo. The protocol analyzes the fecal tissue using the proteinase K digestion and guanidine hydrochloride extraction method.[8].

*Multidisciplinary Investigations on Galphimia glauca

Dr. Sharma has contributed to the study and review of the pharmacological potential of Galphimia glauca, a perennial shrub native to Mexico and Central America.[9][10]. He represented Tecnologico de Monterrey, and worked with scholars and scientists from Área Académica de Ciencias Agrícolas y Forestales, Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico en Electroquímica (CIDETEQ), and Centro de Investigación en Biotecnología (CEIB).

*Tree Of The Future

Dr. Sharma led the research team that invented a new cloning protocol on ¨Kiri, popularly known as paulownia plant, i.e., Paulownia Shan tong, which is known as "tree of the future". [11].
