Ashiq H. Khan (born Ashiq Hussain) is a German neuroscientist, artificial intelligence strategist, and c-level technology executive.[1][2][3][4]
Khan holds senior leadership and C-suite roles at Molecular Health, Schrödinger, Proteros, and Iktos.[5]. Khan is also a member of the Forbes Business Council, the EU Commission’s AI Alliance, and the MIT Technology Review Global Panel.
Early life and education
Khan completed his PhD in Neurobio-informatics at the University of Cologne, graduating summa cum laude. His work involved collaborations with Harvard University and focused on olfactory receptor evolution in vertebrates. He later conducted postdoctoral research in Immunology at Yale University, where he also served on the Postdoctoral Advisory Committee.
In addition to his scientific training, Khan completed executive business programs at INSEAD and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, along with management programs at McKinsey, Harvard University, and Yale University.
Professional Career
Khan began his professional career as a Trainee Patent Attorney at Bardehle Pagenberg, one of Europe’s leading intellectual property firms, where he advised multinational technology and pharmaceutical companies, including Google, Microsoft, Novartis, Bayer, and Amazon, on patent filings, technical documentation, and IP strategy before the European Patent Office.
He later joined Ericsson, where he held senior consulting leadership positions in Germany and the United Kingdom. During this period, he was responsible for digital transformation strategy, global systems integration partnerships, and multi-year technology deployment programs. Khan transitioned to the biotechnology sector in 2018 with Molecular Health, where he served as Vice President of Global Biomedicine Business. At Molecular Health, he co-led the development of an FDA-collaborative AI platform for predicting clinical trial success and negotiated strategic alliances with major global healthcare organizations. Between 2020 and 2024, he held leadership roles at Schrödinger GmbH, an AI- and physics-based drug discovery company. As Senior Director and later Head of EMEA Business Development, he managed multi-million US$ annual business portfolio and expanded business operations.[6]
In 2025, Khan became Chief Business Officer at Iktos SA, where he led global commercial strategy, corporate development, M&A, pricing models, AI-driven platform expansion, and operational transformation across pharmaceutical and biotech markets..[6]. Khan had served as Chief Commercial Officer of Proteros GmbH and President of Proteros Inc. (USA), where he oversaw full business development responsibility for a global CRO business. [7]. Across his executive career, Khan has built and managed global teams across the United States, Europe, and the Asia–Pacific region, leading initiatives in AI-based portfolio strategy, market expansion, corporate restructuring, and investor engagement.
Khan is widely regarded as a thought leader on the integration of artificial intelligence into industry- academia-governments, commercial strategy, and international innovation ecosystems.[6] His work spans human-centric AI policy, regulatory considerations for emerging technologies, and digital transformation in life sciences.
He is an official member of the Forbes Business Council (2019–present), a member of the High-Level Expert Group on AI within the European Commission’s EU AI Alliance (2019–present), and a member of the MIT Technology Review Global Panel (2020–present), contributing regularly to international discussions on AI governance, innovation policy, and technological competitiveness.
Personal life
Khan resides in Frankfurt, Germany while also maintainig residence in Munich, Germany. He speaks English, German, Urdu, Arabic, and Chinese at varying levels of fluency.
