Arthur L Frank is an American physician and occupational health scientist.[1][2] He is chair emeritus at the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University in Philadelphia.[3][4]
Early career
He completed his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine of the City of New York[5] and his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from The City University of New York Mount Sinai Medical Center. He received a BA in anthropology from State University of New York at Buffalo.[6][7]
Honours and Awards
Collegium Ramazzini awarded him the Ramazzini Award 2016.[8][9][10]
Drexel University created the Arthur L. Frank professorship to honor his contributions to public health nationally and internationally.[11][12]
Reception
Addressing the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance, Frank stated that continuing with asbestos is an international disaster particularly in countries including China and India.[13][14][15]
Frank, through his research and testimony to the US Congress and other courts,[16] called for a full ban on asbestos without delay.[17][18][19]
He called for minimising health risks emerging due to asbestos use.[20]
On the Donald Trump Administration to consider Asbesto ban reversal, Prof Frank stated to the Newsweek that "This is another attempt by industry, going back to when they blocked the first EPA asbestos ban in 1989, to allow for continued use of a deadly material responsible for some 40,000 U.S. deaths and some 250,000 worldwide deaths each year."[21]
