Early life and education

Mizani received his Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University, and he later obtained a law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.[3]

Political career

In 2016, Mizani was appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority.[4] In December 2020 Mizani was elected Mayor of Keller, Texas where he won the election with 58.89% of the electoral vote.[5][6] He was later re-elected in May 2023 to serve a second term as Mayor after having gone unopposed. [7]

Mayor of Keller, Texas

As Mayor, Mizani has emphasized a "family friendly" vision for Keller while advocating for taxpayer relief.[8] During his tenure as Mayor, the city of Keller approved significant property tax rate reductions and adopted rates at or below the "no new revenue rate."[9] [10]

Tarrant Appraisal District

In 2023, Mizani and the City of Keller initiated a recall of the Tarrant Appraisal District Chairwoman after a series of controversies came to light from the Tarrant Appraisal District.[11] [12] One controversy included the Tarrant Appraisal District having technological failures regarding tax protests. In a letter addressed to the Tarrant Appraisal District, Mizani called the failure "inexcusable" and called on the Tarrant Appraisal District to extend the protest deadline amid its website failures. [13] The scandals and controversies at the Tarrant Appraisal District ultimately led to the Chief Appraiser resigning from his post. [14]

Personal life

Mizani is a Roman Catholic and lives in Keller, Texas, where he and his wife raise two children.[15]
