Armin Afsahi is an academic and administrator who currently serves as Dean of Development for the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences and also Associate Vice President of Alumni Affairs and Development at Harvard University.[2]

He was recently appointed as vice president for Alumni Relations and Development at University of Chicago.[3][4]

Early life and education

Afsahi earned Bachelor of Arts in communications from University of California, San Diego and later earned Master of Business Administration in finance and strategic management[5] from University of San Diego.[5] He is currently pursuing Master of Liberal Arts in Anthropology and Archeology from Harvard University.[6]

Career

Armin served as Vice Chancellor for Advancement at University of Denver from 2015 to 2019[7] who was responsible to double annual giving of $1 Billion Capital Campaign.[8] He also served as Assistant Vice President at Georgetown University from 2005 to 2007.

He also served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement at University of California, San Diego from 2007 to 2015. Also as chief alumni officer at UCSD, he was an integral member of the team that created the current $2 billion campaign.[1] Under his leadership, alumni engagement increased by 73 percent over five years, and alumni and student philanthropy grew by 427 percent and 450 percent.[5]

He was also instrumental in developing a strategic approach for Georgetown’s $2 billion campaign when he served there as assistant vice president for advancement.[1]

Harvard University

During Afsahi’s tenure, the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences saw higher-than-expected budget surpluses ($51M) coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, defying projections of substantial deficits.[4][9][10]
