Arlene P. Maclin is an American physicist and academic administrator.

Maclin was born in Rawlings, Virginia on June 7, 1945.[1] She earned her B.S. in engineering physics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1967,[2] a M.S. in theoretical nuclear physics from the University of Virginia in 1971, and a Ph.D. in theoretical solid state physics from Howard University in 1974.[1]

Maclin was a research scientist at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory and a visiting scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory before she was appointed to serve as program director at the National Science Foundation in 1980. Between 1981 and 1983, she served as Senior Applied Research Physicist at the Central Intelligence Agency.[1]

Maclin is a professor at Howard University.[3]
