Aristides Instruments is a Dutch guitar company, founded by the luthier Aristides Poort. Aristides Poort started in 1995 with the development of a composite material that had to match the cell properties of wood. He did this in collaboration with the Delft University of Technology. The result is a material called Arium. From this he started making solid body guitars in 2007, using only a wooden fingerboard and metal hardware.
The guitars are cast in an aluminum mold and then dried and sanded. In the final stage, the hardware is added manually.
Aristides currently offers the following series and models.
