Ari Rastegar is a American real estate investor and CEO of Rastegar Property Company in Austin, Texas.

Early life and education

Rastegar was born in Austin and grew up in Dallas, Texas.[2] He received an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University[3] and then attended law school at St. Mary’s University.[1]

Career

In 2006, while still attending law school, Rastegar began investing in real estate.[1] After graduation, he began working for John Read, an attorney in Dallas.[3] In 2010 he met New York investor Anthony Orso, who soon moved Rastegar to New York and funded his event hosting venture, Capital A Entertainment.[3]

Rastegar returned to Texas in 2015 and founded Rastegar Capital,[3] a private real estate investment firm headquartered in Austin. He is also the company's CEO.[1] (Rastegar Capital rebranded as Rastegar Equity Partners in 2018,[3] and later as Rastegar Property Company.[1]) By January 2017, Rastegar's firm had $500 million in assets under management,[3] with an early focus on the self storage industry.[4]

By 2020, the company had shifted to focus on multifamily properties,[5][6] often near cities important to the technology industry, like Raleigh, Nashville, Austin, and Phoenix.[7] Rastegar led planning to construct the world's tallest green wall|living wall, announced in April 2020 as part of a development at 1899 McKinney in Dallas.[8][2] In January 2021, Rastegar Property Company started a $200 million real estate investment trust, Rastegar Opportunity REIT, focused on vintage (roughly 30 years old) apartment complexes in Houston and the Sun Belt.[9][10] He invests across commercial real estate product types.[3]

Personal life

Rastegar is married to Kellie Rastegar, who is also co-founder[11] and creative director of Rastegar Property Company.[citation needed] He is passionate about personal health and identifies as a biohacker.[12] He takes up to 150 vitamins and supplements each day, sleeps on a temperature-regulated bed,[13] and routinely uses hyperbaric chambers and infrared light beds with the goal of maximizing his productivity.[14]
