Ariel Frenkel (born September 5, 1985) is an American actor, writer and filmmaker. He is best known for his recurring role as Sam Spiegel in Boots Riley's Amazon Prime Video series I'm A Virgo (2023).[1][2][3] and for his digital series Sorry, Ari, in which he writes and stars.[4] Sorry, Ari was named one of the best web series by IndieWire.[5]

Early Life

Frenkel is originally from North Brunswick, New Jersey[6][7], born the youngest of three sons to Israeli scientists. Frenkel graduated from Montclair State University.[8] During his time there he won the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Acting Competition at the National level in Washington, DC.[9]

Career

Frenkel has appeared in many films and television shows including American Crime Story: Impeachment, Silicon Valley, No Hard Feelings, All Rise, Homecoming, Truth Be Told, Transparent, and Rizzoli & Isles. He recurred in Paul Reiser's There's...Johnny! as Tom Donahue and in Boots Riley's I'm A Virgo as agent Sam Spiegel. As a filmmaker, his work has been featured on Funny or Die, IndieWire, Catalyst Story Institute and Content Festival, Broadway World[10] and at many International Film Festivals. [11]
