Anuruddha Hewawasam is a Sri Lankan IT professional, was recognized as the Young Information Security Professional of the year 2019 by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka.[1]
Early Life
Anuruddha was born in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Because of a wild elephant attack, he lost his father, a traditional farmer. Anuruddha was just a 7 year old boy when his father passed away. He also lost his sister by a road accident in 2004, when sister "Anushka" was just 13 years old. He spent his childhood with relatives as his mother flew to the middle-east to work for a living.
Education
He did his primary education in several rural schools, and after passing grade 05 scholarship he went to Pinnawala Central College where he continued his education till advanced level. He passed the advanced level exam and selected to enter University of Colombo School of Computing, University of Colombo where he obtained the bachelor's degree in Computer science in 2016.
Career
Anuruddha showed his intention towards Information security during his university life, he got the opportunity to work as an intern at Sri Lanka CERT[2]. After completing his internship he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers|PwC Sri Lanka as an IT Security Analyst. He then moved to TechCERT which is the first computer emergency response team in Sri Lanka. Anuruddha was working with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard|PCI DSS implementation team at TechCERT where he helped organizations to comply with the standard[3]. With more than three years of experience, he joined Vetstoria, a software startup in 2019.
