Anthony Peyton Young is a Boston-based artist.
Biography
Anthony Peyton Young was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He earned his B.A from West Virigina State University and his MFA from School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.[1]
Personal Life
Young indentifies as a queer black person and was raised mainly by his mother.[2]
Works
Young works primarily in portraiture and focuses on generational black trauma, oppression, healing and Queer intimacy.[3] Through collage he creates visual fragmentation and abstractions of figurative bodies.[4]Young often works in experimental materials such as gunpowder and bleach. [5]
