Anthony Paul Vance (born 1971) is an American lawyer who is currently an Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan. He is the son of Mike and Nancy Vance. Vance married Karen Konesny and they have 3 children.[1]

Schooling

Vance attended Flint Central High School. He played football and track and was the city champion in the pole vault in 1990 and 1991. He graduated magna cum laude from Flint Central in 1991. Vance received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1995. Vance graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and an additional major in Political Science. Vance received his Juris Doctor in 2000 from DePaul University-College of Law.

Career

Vance was raised by a long line of teachers. After graduating from Michigan State University he became a substitute teacher and coach at Flint Community Schools from August 1995 - June 1996. Vance's next career opportunity was becoming a law clerk under Congressman Dale Kildee in Washington D.C. in June and July of 1998. This helped Vance see his love for law and led him to law school. At DePaul University – College of Law he became a research assistant working for Professor John Roberts from May 1999 - August 1999. He was also a law clerk at Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic in Chicago, Illinois around the same time, June 1999 - November 1999. Upon graduating and returning home, Vance became a law clerk to Chief Judge Hon. Robert M. Ransom (ret.) at the State of Michigan - 7th Judicial Circuit Court. In 2001, Vance went into private practice as a criminal defense attorney. In 2010, Vance joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan as an Assistant United States Attorney. Vance is currently the Chief of the Branch Offices, a position he has held since 2017. The Branch Offices are responsible for the prosecution of the full spectrum of federal crimes committed in the 25 northernmost counties of the Eastern District of Michigan, which spans the entire Northern Division (Bay City Office) and the northernmost portion of the Southern Division (Flint Office).
