Antares Vision Group is a multinational company headquartered in Travagliato, Italy. The company operates in the traceability field and has been listed on the stock exchange since 2019.

History

Early History

After graduating in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano with a thesis on optical measurement systems, Emidio Zorzella and Massimo Bonardi founded SemTec, an optoelectronics laboratory and spin-off of the University of Brescia, in 1998[1].

In 2001, following the announcement of a new European law against counterfeit medicines, a dedicated pharmaceutical division was created at SemTec. In 2007, Zorzella and Bonardi founded Antares Vision.

2007 - 2014

Initially situated in an office in Castel Mella, located in the province of Brescia, and with 18 employees, Antares Vision entered the pharmaceutical sector from the outset.

During the early years, the company concentrated on manufacturing vision systems using intelligent cameras which were capable of monitoring drug compliance.

In 2008, a development centre was opened in Germany. The subsequent year marked the start of the first phase of Turkey's serialization program, establishing the world's inaugural drug traceability system to combat counterfeiting[2].

In 2012, with the financial backing of Fondo Italiano d'Investimento [3], Antares Vision became a partner of Sanofi[4] and ranked among the top five players worldwide in the field of traceability. Its solutions have been installed in 40 countries[5]. In 2013, Antares Vision inaugurated new offices in the United States and Brazil. In 2014, it was honoured with the award for National Champion in the technological innovation sector at the European Business Awards [6].

2015 - 2019

The two-year period 2015/2016 is marked by the relocation to the current Travagliato plant, a second prize at the European Business Awards, for the best international strategy[7], and the opening of new sites, in France and South Korea.

In 2018 Sargas joined Antares Vision of Sargas, a company made up of Italian and foreign entrepreneurs led by Guido Barilla, who subsidized a capital increase operation[8] with 15% of the paid-up shares. The company also opens an office in India.

In April 2019, Antares Vision entered the Italian stock exchange, with the start of trading of ordinary shares and bonds on AIM Italia[9]. A few months later, in September, Antares Vision acquires FT System, a company specializing in inspection for quality control in the Beverage industry[10]. The year ended with the acquisition of T2 Software, a Brazilian software company [11] and 37,5% of Oròbix [12], a company specializing in Artificial Intelligence based in Bergamo.

2020 - today

In April 2020, the company took over 83% of Tradeticity, a Croatian software company specializing in the management of traceability processes[13]. In June, the Vicenza-based company Convel, a manufacturer of inspection machines for the pharmaceutical industry[14], was taken over, while in the autumn Antares Vision acquired Applied Vision, an American multinational manufacturer of high-speed inspection systems for glass and metal containers for the food industry[15].

In 2021, Antares Vision became Antares Vision Group and, in May, entered the STAR MTA segment of the Milan Stock Exchange [16]. The Group also includes the American rfxcel Corporation, a company specializing in traceability and regulatory compliance[17], Pen-Tec and Tecnel, which contributes to the Group's expertise in the Food & Beverage sector[18].

Also in 2021 a partnership with Bonifiche Ferraresi, Bluarancio SpA and SDF Spa was established for the creation of RurAll SpA, a company that aims at creating a platform for the traceability of agricultural products from farm to fork[19].

In 2022 Antares Vision Group acquiried ACSIS, an American software company for supply chain transparency [20], Packital and Ingg. Vescovini active in the field of inspection in the Food & Beverage sector [21]. In December, Ingg. Vescovini and Tecnel joined forces to form AV Electronics [22].

In 2022, Antares Vision Group signed agreements with universities and research centres: the National Research Centre for 'Agricultural Technology - Agritech' at the Federico II University in Naples[23], the National Research Center for 'Development of gene therapy and drugs with RNA technology' in Padua[24], and the L.I.G.H.T. project with the University of Brescia and Dompé Farmaceutici[25].

In October, Antares Vision Group also enters the metaverse by launching AVGroupVERSE [26]
