Annie Särnblad is a Swedish-American expert in reading facial expressions, strategic advisor, author, and speaker.[1] She developed simple teaching techniques for facial expressions and has written two books: Diary of a Human Lie Detector: Facial Expressions in Love, Lust, and Lies[2] and The Facial Expressions Glossary: Business Version.[3]

Särnblad has spoken twice at YPO EDGE,[4] the world’s largest global gathering of CEOs.[5] Her work has been widely featured in print, podcasts, television, and live appearances including CBS’s The Talk,School of Greatness,[6] 92NY, NBC Los Angeles, CNBC,[7] and Reader’s Digest.[8]

Life and career

Särnblad was born in Boston and grew up in Glencoe, Illinois. She attended New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois and obtained her undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in Anthropology from Lund University in Sweden.

She is certified in the Facial Action Coding System (FACS).
