Adam Keith Epstein (born September 7, 1974) is an American podcast host of Dirty Moderate with Adam Epstein[1], media personality, and Tony Award-winning Broadway producer.[2] He currently resides in Los Angeles.

Early life

Epstein was born in Miami Beach, Florida[3]. Epstein earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University in 1996.[4] He graduated from Brown University with a Master of Arts degree in American Studies in 2017.[4]

Career

Theater

Epstein began his career on Broadway as an intern for the Broadway casting office of Johnson-Liff Casting Associates.[5] Soon after, he was hired to work as a producer assistant at The Producer Circle Company.[6]

Epstein's first Broadway job was as a producing associate of the Cy Coleman musical, The Life (musical)|The Life.[7] From there, Epstein went out on his own, forming The Adam Epstein Company. Epstein also co-produced the sit-down production of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change at the Stuart Street Playhouse in Boston, which ran for two years.[8] Epstein was also a co-producer of the Broadway musical The Wedding Singer (musical)|The Wedding Singer,[9] as well as Cry-Baby: The Musical.[10]

In 1999, Epstein was the producer for West End impresario and Everton Football Club owner Bill Kenwright in London, England,[11] and produced Amadeus[12] in the West End at the Old Vic.[11]

In 2002, Epstein was an original producer of the musical Hairspray (musical)|Hairspray,[13] based on the 1988 John Waters film of the same name. In addition to earning a record 11 nominations and winning four[14], Epstein himself won the Tony Award for Best Musical[2], which grossed nearly $200 million.[15]

Political commentary

Epstein spent 2019 as an on-air regular on Trish Regan Primetime on the Fox Business channel,[16] where he appeared every Thursday night as a liberal commentator, known for sparring with former President Trump's press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and other right-wing media types.

Epstein has authored political and cultural essays for The Clyde Fitch Report,[17] and has been a contributor for London-based online outfit Uncanceled,[4] covering American politics.

Epstein's podcast, Dirty Moderate with Adam Epstein,[1] launched December 20, 2021.
