Angelo Moratti (Milan, 9th August 1963) is an Italian entrepreneur and businessman.

Biography

Angelo is the son of the entrepreneur Gian Marco Moratti and the journalist and writer Lina Sotis and brother of Francesca and Gabriele and Gilda, the latter children of his father and Letizia Brichetto Moratti.[1]. He attended Haileybury and Imperial Service College in Hertford, England, and studied Business and Administration at Columbia University in New York. He was married to Roberta Armani from 1997 to 2007[2]. Since 2016 he has been married to Nadia Aldridge, actress and model, with whom he has three children: Adam (son of Nadia's previous relationship), Grace and Gian Marco[3].

Career

From 1995 to 2013, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Inter Milan, a team owned by the Moratti family from 1955 to 1968 and from 1995 to 2013. In 1996, he founded the telecommunications company E-planet, which was then listed on the stock exchange in 2000. In the same year he also founded Sarlux, an energy company of which he was president until 2002. From 2000 to 2005 he was president of the Association of Friends of the Dino Ferrari Centre, an association supporting research on neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, founded by Enzo Ferrari in memory of his son Dino. Since 2001, he has collaborated with Warren Buffett to support him in exploring new business opportunities in Europe.[4][5] From 2003 to 2008, he was a board member of the basketball team Olimpia Milano. Since 2003, he has been active in Special Olympics: president of Special Olympics Italy from 2005 to 2012 and from 2018 to today, member of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics International of which he has been Vice President since 2016 and member of the Executive Committee.[6] In 2006, he led the listing on the Borsa Italiana of the oil and energy company Saras S.p.A., founded in 1962 by his grandfather Angelo Moratti. In 2007 he founded the investment company Angel Lab, later renamed Angel Capital Management, of which he is currently president. Since 2016, he has collaborated with Howard Schultz to implement Starbucks' entry and expansion strategy in the Italian market, which will culminate with the opening of the first Roastery in Milan in 2018. Through Angel Capital Management, it invests together with Starbucks in the Princi bakery chain, for its international expansion project.[7][8][9] In 2017 he founded Milano Investment Partners SGR, a venture capital fund of which he is still president today[10]. Since 2020, he has been part of the Steering Board of E4Impact, an organization that aims to train entrepreneurs in developing countries to support the start-up and growth of their businesses.[11] He is also a member of the Global Leadership Circle of ONE global movement to fight poverty in developing countries, for which he was responsible for interaction with the Italian institutions[12]
