Andriy Khvetkevych
Andriy Khvetkevych (Андрій Хветкевич, born March 8, 1983, in Dnipro, Ukraine) is a world-class freediver and record-holder. He started his training in Apnea and Free-diving in 2017 and got his first national record in 2018.
His first National Record for Ukraine set on July 30, 2018, on the Vertical Blue Competition with 71m [1] [2] in CNF (Constant Weight No-Fins) discipline, certified by AIDA Judges. Andriy became First Individual Champion, competing for two different countries: Ukraine by AIDA and USA by CMAS. He has broken several free-diving national records, including Constant weight without fins (-71 meter, July 2018), Free Immersion (-95 meter, October 2019), Constant weight Bi-Fins (-97 meter [3], August 2019 CMAS National Record [4]), and Constant weight Bi-Fins (-80 meter, May 2019 AIDA National Record).
His achievements have been recognized with AIDA [5] and CMAS [6] organizations.
He studied Economic Cybernetics in the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, Intellectual Property in the State Institute of Intellectual Property of Ukraine (renamed to National University Odesa Law Academy in 2016 [7]), and he becomes a Patent Attorney of Ukraine, registered number 366.
He suffered an injury on October 30, 2019 surfacing from -95m [8], during a training in an attempt to break the national record in Constant Weight for Ukraine. He was diagnosed with Decompression Sickness and got treatment in Hyperbaric Chamber in Kuala Lumpur and the United States. He feels good at the moment, according to Divers Alert Network article.
