Andrey Elinson (Full name in English: ELINSON Andrey Mikhailovich, full name in Russian: ЕЛИНСОН Андрей Михайлович) (born January 10, 1979, in Moscow, Russia) is an international businessman and investor, known for his significant contributions in private equity, strategic business development, and corporate management. Elinson has held top executive positions in some of the largest Russian businesses and industrial conglomerates, such as Deputy CEO of Basic Element, Managing Partner at A1, Director of Assets Management at Alfa Group Consortium, and Partner at Deloitte CIS. He is recognized for his significant role in the preparation and conduct of the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi, Russia. Currently, Elinson is the founder and owner of Inweasta, an international group of companies operating in Dubai, Turkey, Hong Kong, Paris, and Vienna.

Early Life and Education

Andrey Elinson was born in Moscow, Russia. He graduated with honors from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, specializing in accountancy and audit.[1]

Career

Elinson's professional journey spans over two decades, during which he has held various influential positions in some of Russia's largest industrial conglomerates and investment firms.

Deloitte

Elinson started his career at Deloitte CIS in 1997. By 2005, at the age of 25, he became one of the youngest partners in the firm's history.[2] He worked in various capacities at Deloitte, including Partner-in-charge of Forensic and Dispute Services and Leader of Internal Control Service Line in Enterprise Risk Services. He played a key role in managing assurance and advisory projects for both Russian and international companies.[3]

Basic Element

From 2007 to 2014, Elinson served at Basic Element, one of Russia's largest industrial conglomerates. He initially held the position of Director of Corporate Governance and Internal Control, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of corporate governance standards.[4] Later, he advanced to Deputy CEO,[5][6] overseeing the M&A, finance, and corporate governance teams. In this role, Elinson specifically supervised Basic Element's investments in key industries, including aviation, pulp and mill, real estate development, construction, insurance, finance, manufacturing, retail, media, energy, and mining.[7] Additionally, Elinson served in other Basic Element-owned companies. He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Basel Aero, managing airports in Sochi, Krasnodar, Anapa, and Gelendzhik, Russia. He also held the role of Managing Director of the resort district 'Imeretinsky' in Sochi, a significant tourism and recreation complex in the city.

Alfa Group Consortium

Elinson joined Alfa Group Consortium in December 2015 as Director of Assets Management at CTF Holdings (owned by Consortium).[1] His tenure at Alfa Group lasted until March 2018.

A1

In 2018, Elinson became the Managing Director and CEO of A1,[8] a leading European private equity firm and litigation funder. He contributed to the firm until October 2023, focusing on strategic business development and corporate management. In October 2023, Elinson left A1 and the departure from A1 signifies his exit from all appointed roles, redirecting his focus exclusively to his personal investment enterprise, Inweasta.[9]

Inweasta

Post his tenure at A1, Elinson dedicated himself to his own investment business. Inweasta, founded in 2022 by Andrey Elinson, operates globally with offices in Dubai, Paris, Hong Kong, Vienna, and Istanbul. The firm specializes in investment strategies, cross-border dispute resolution, litigation funding, and distressed asset management, aiming to deliver exceptional client experiences across legal, financial, investment, security, PR, and more. As the founder and CEO, he leads the company's global operations.[10][11][12][9]

Contributions to 2014 Winter Olympics

Elinson was instrumental in the construction of the Sochi Olympic Village and the renovation and modernization of the Sochi International Airport for the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.[13] His leadership and contribution to these projects earned him the Order of Friendship and the medal "For the Construction of Transport Facilities" by the President of the Russian Federation in December 2014.[14][15][16][17]

Board Memberships

Throughout his career, Elinson has served on the boards of several prominent companies, including X5 Retail Group, ABH Holdings S.A., AlfaStrakhovaniye Group, Alfa-Bank,[1] Rosvodokanal, En+ Group,[18] STRABAG SE (Austrian construction company).[4] He was a Member of the Supervisory Board of X5 Retail Group, one of Russia's largest retail operators, from 2016 to 2020. Andrey Elinson also served as a member of the supervisory board of the Alfa Group Consortium and A1 Investment Holding, all of which he departed from by 2020.[12]

Certifications and Public Engagements

Elinson holds multiple certifications, including a Certified Public Accountant (USA), a licensed Russian auditor, and a Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (UK).[1] He has been actively involved in public speaking and has authored articles on topics like corporate governance and fraud prevention.[19]

Personal Life

Andrey Elinson is married and has a daughter. He is fluent in English and Russian and has basic knowledge of French and German. He is also an enthusiast of triathlon.
